Advocacy training targets changing young men’s mindset
MORE than 150 Pacific feminists and women human rights defenders are expected to attend the 2nd Pacific Feminist Forum to be held at The Pearl Resort in Pacific Harbour from May 20-22.
With the theme, “Sustaining Solidarity, Resistance and Revolution”, the Pacific Feminist Forum (PFF) working group said the forum would mobilise diverse women from across the Pacific to share knowledge and experiences, celebrate achievements and strategise for collective action to achieve women’s human rights.
The PFF provides a transformative space for Pacific feminists to reflect on key issues paramount gender equality and women’s human rights.
“With the rise of conservative influence and ideologies, women human rights defenders are more at threat and it’s important now more than ever to amplify our issues,” the PFF working group said.
The forum is supported by the Australian government through the “We Rise Coalition”, Fiji Women’s Fund, Mama Cash and the UN Women Fiji Multi-Country Office.
“The event is being organised by the 2nd Pacific Feminist Forum regional working group which is made up of femLINKpacific, Fiji Women’s Rights Movement (FWRM), Diverse Voices and Action (DIVA) for Equality Fiji, Tongan Leitis and Rise Up (Papua New Guinea).”
