Dreketi women receive income generating project
THE requirements of an income generating project (IGP) to the Senibiau Women’s Group in Dreketi Village in Cakaudrove was officially handed over yesterday
While officiating at the handover the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa said women play a key role in the development of their community through income-generating projects that improves their livelihood.
She said the ministry aims to empower women and encourage them to work within their communities with the aim of enhancing their livelihoods and their communities.
“Income generating projects through the women’s group is a key tool in the financing of community projects,” Mrs Vuniwaqa said.
She also acknowledged the support shown by the men and the community members towards these income generating projects and stressed that this support for the women will help develop the livelihoods of their families and community at large.
Senibiau Women’s Group president, Lusiana Dirorovakanace thanked the Ministry for the quick response to their request after their last visit to the community.
The IGP equipment includes a solar panel and baking equipment with additional requests such as a television set and water tank also handed over during this gathering.
