Vuniwaqa: We don’t condone bullying anywhere
WOMEN, Children and Poverty Alleviation Minister Mereseini Vuniwaqa did not mince her words when it came to bullying.
She said the ministry would not condone such acts and that they would take appropriate action.
“We don’t condone bullying in any form, whether it’s in school, at home or anywhere,” Mrs Vuniwaqa said.
She said the ministry was mandated under the Juvenile Act, the Child Welfare Act, and other laws to ensure the safety and protection of children.
She reiterated that her office also gave advice and support to the parents, making referrals for counselling and other professional help for the victims and their families.
The Child Helpline free call, she said, was established for children and those having concerns about children, to call and obtain information or counselling.
“We urge the community to use this service if they have any concerns regarding the safety and well-being of a child or youth.”
